Our Executive Director and staff are well versed in the field of sexual addiction, sexual offender and spousal treatment. These multi-media trainings can range from 1-2 hour keynote or conference presentations, to smaller clinical in-services and professional program development in a variety of settings. Our clinical training can be expanded to multi-day and ongoing consultations designed to enhance staff skills or create entirely new clinical programs. Our seminars can be presented within your agency or organization in staff education programs, in-services and as a part of advanced trainings. The following is a selection of past seminars.

1. Understanding Sexual Addiction and Treatment: Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment and Referral for Addictive Sexual Disorders
Often unidentified, untreated or misdiagnosed, those suffering with Sexual Addiction experience life changing consequences such as: loss of primary relationships, sexual arrest, sexual diseases/unsafe sex, constant relapse in other addictions and a legacy of low self esteem, sexual shame and secrecy. This presentation is designed to create a clear, non-judgmental, clinical understanding of Addictive Sexual Disorders. An assessment and treatment model will be presented as well as sample cases discussed. The discussion will also review common misunderstandings and misnomers regarding Sexual Addiction and differential diagnosis will be provided. Written and referral resources will be provided.

2. Seminar/Workshop: Understanding, Diagnosing and Treating the Sex Offender
An extremely maligned and misunderstood population, most sexual offenders are quite amenable to clinical treatment and with proper care, many will never offend again! This material is designed to create a clear, non-judgmental, clinical understanding of Sexual Offenders along with viable methods for assessment and treatment. The discussion will review common misunderstandings and misnomers regarding Sexual Offenders and Sexual Offender Treatment. This training can be presented in a brief seminar/workshop format or be expanded to train providers interested in working with this population.


3. Untangling the Web - The Diagnosis and Treatment of Internet Sex and Pornography Addiction
Cybersex is the latest and most addictive form of acting out by sex addicts. In a world where computers are ubiquitous at home and in the workplace, clinicians who work with addicts need to understand this new phenomenon and its unique treatment needs. The presenters, authors of a new book on cybersex addiction, will describe a practical approach to healing for cybersex addicts and their partners.

At the end of the presentation, the listener will have an understanding of:

  • Types of cybersex activities now available online
  • How to identify the difference between recreational and addictive cybersex activity addictive.
  • The effects on the user and on family members.
  • Differences between male and female cybersex addicts.
  • Techniques for treating cybersex addiction, including practical suggestions for helping cybersex addicts who must continue using the Internet for their work.
  • The recovery process for spouses who have been affected by someone's compulsive cybersex involvement.

4. Title Survival of the Fittest: Understanding Addiction and Narcissism as Coping
This presentation helps the clinician relate to the basic underpinnings of the addictive process as a means of childhood coping and survival. The survivor/addicts' dissociation from dependency needs and acting out trauma will be the emphasis for the discussion. Adult narcissisms and its' relationship to addiction will be addressed and a basis reviewed for understanding pathological narcissism as a necessary survival tool.

Objectives:

  • To help identify the relationship of addiction and narcissistic wounding.
  • To help clinicians identify the transition points from a cognitive-behavioral stance with addict clients, to a psychodynamic stance.
  • To aid in the understanding of the evolution of the addiction process as a means of coping and survival of the self.
  • To support the evolving relationship between mental health and addiction treatment processes.

Our workshop programs are individually designed to meet the needs of your organization. Some examples are curriculums we have created to help an expanding chemical addition program become more familiar with sexual addiction treatment.
