The rumor mill swirls about Suzy, the married housewife in her late 30s/early 40s, with kids around 8-10 years old. Her husband works all the time and her kids are in school. She’s left at home, feeling lonely and unimportant. So she finds ways to fill the time.
Suzy finds comfort in alcohol and painkillers, sometimes even driving the kids home from school while under the influence. She has brief affairs, hits on the delivery guys and servicemen at the house, and has had sex with her “massage therapist” to add a little excitement to her life. When all else fails, she goes shopping.
Why She Seeks Treatment
Eventually, Suzy’s husband discovers one of her affairs. Or maybe he comes home early one day to find her passed out from a bad combination of alcohol and pills. He asks her to get help for drug abuse and her sexual behavior is revealed in a therapy session. During drug rehab, she may do a Fourth Step inventory and finally acknowledge the secrecy and denial surrounding her sexual behavior. To save her marriage and feel alive again, Suzy gets help.
