Teens, Social Media and the Future of Sex

Posted on February 15th, 2014

Teens, Social Media and the Future of SexCassidy isn’t fast enough — not to wipe the look off her face, a combination of confusion disgust and awe and not fast enough to swing her arm over her head before her brother grabs her cell phone from her hands before it goes dark, before the passcode is required to open her text message window again. She’s jumping and grunting and lunging into his body, but even though he is younger, Jake is taller, broader. He holds her phone over their heads, reads, then yells out, “Ewww!”

“Shut up!” she growls, but again, she isn’t fast enough.

“What is it?” their mother wants to know.

“Someone sent Cass a porno message!” Jake laughs and spins from his sister’s grip. And that’s it. She hates him for the rest of his life. Again.

The Weiner Roast Continues…

Three Days = New Man?

A few weeks ago New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner told reporters that in July 2011, shortly after his scandal-plagued departure from Congress, he spent three days at the Gabbard Center, a psychiatric evaluation facility in Houston, TX. As you may recall, the events precipitating Weiner’s congressional resignation involved the sending of sexual self-images to half a dozen (or more) women via Twitter and other forms of digital media. Some of the images were apparently snapped in the locker room of the Congressional gym. According to Weiner, he’d been engaging in this type of behavior for approximately three years. And now he has admitted that his sexual misdeeds continued even after he was caught and scandalized.

Does Sexting Have a Role in the Modern Art of Seduction?

Posted on October 13th, 2011

Sexting has been the downfall of many men in power. Most recently, an Indiana pediatrician joined U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner and others in sacrificing his career and reputation for a sexting exchange, in this case with someone he thought was a teenage girl. Like the others who have gone before him, a short time later the pediatrician admitted himself for sexual addiction treatment.

Study Findings Suggest Many Sexting Relationships Turn Physical, Lead to Cheating

Posted on July 13th, 2011

It’s the human connection through physical meetings, says a recent study, that may supersede many online-based relationships. In many cases an online or cell phone relationship is likely to progress to real-world meetings, despite a person’s intimate involvement with another partner or a spouse.

Understanding the Emotional Carnage that Accompanies the Public Betrayal of a Wife’s Trust and Marriage

Congressman Anthony Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, is probably receiving all kinds of advice on what to do right now. Adding to the weight of whatever decision she makes is the news that she is pregnant with the couple’s first child. While the advice given by friends and family to spouses on the wrong end of sexual addiction and/or porn addiction is often to quickly end the relationship, cut your losses and move on, experience has shown that in the early stages of such kinds of emotional trauma it is usually best for spouses to not take any actions right away.
