Could my alcoholic or drug addicted client also be a sex addict?
Sometimes it is difficult to see tell tale signs of sex addiction. There are specific behaviors that one should look out for when treating CD clients. For example, CD clients who are sex addicts may tend to dress a little more provocative in treatment even after they have been told to cover up or clients might exhibit behaviors such as starting “special relationships” with staff members or clients within your practice.
Some signs of a client with a sex addiction problem may also include someone who constantly jokes or refers to sex within situations where it is not necessarily appropriate. Some clients may often even talk about current sexual relations within treatment.
It is also important to look at your drug or alcohol-addicted client’s history. Many times there are patterns that are signs of sex addiction. For instance if a client has a medical history of multiple abortions, arrests or life consequences related to sex, they may have a sex addiction problem. Other warning signs can even be a past history of prostitution or a history of chronic infidelity. Click here to view more information on the signs of sex addiction that can be seen in CD clients.
