More Moms Looking for Phone Sex Employment, But Not Without Risks
In a trend capturing media attention and articles nationwide, more moms are bringing in extra cash for their families by taking positions in the phone sex industry. In the past year and a half, the phone sex industry has seen a jump in moms looking for employment as high as 400 percent.
The women participate in dialogue with men to help them act out sexual fantasies or sexual encounters for hourly rates, a story featured on major media outlets including Good Morning America. It’s the seemingly quick availability of the phone sex industry positions, economic struggles at home and a desire to work from a home environment that Chris Durst, co-founder of Rat Race Rebellion, says is pushing moms toward the jobs.
Some mothers said they’ve tried to find part-time positions in other areas, like retail or fast food, only to lose those positions to other candidates. Others are attracted by the possibility of working on a self-managed schedule – but the situation is direr in other regions of the world, where some reports point to an increase in mothers entering the prostitution industry.
Participating in the phone sex industry could encourage more women to seek out online-based sexual experiences, and may contribute to higher chances of sexual addiction or pornography addictions. Globally, the phone sex industry has been linked with a coinciding rise in prostitution and sexual trafficking. Experts also warn that the behavior may create a skewed perception of sexuality and can create further emotional distance for a woman when she engages in real-life sexual experiences with a partner.
